NINA SIMONE Silk & Soul (Limited Edition 2026 UK/EU 10-track LP pressed on 180-gram Translucent Red Vinyl, individually numbered and limited to 2,500 copies. Nina Simone's second album for RCA, recorded in New York in 1967, includes "I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free," written by jazz pianist Billy Taylor for his own daughter before Dick Dallas added lyrics that turned it into one of the defining anthems of the Civil Rights movement. Simone's version became the most widely known recording of the song and remains certified silver in the UK. The album also features "It Be's That Way Sometime," written by her brother Sam Waymon, and "The Turning Point," a song that plays as a simple story of childhood friendship before revealing itself as a meditation on the origins of racism. Elsewhere, Simone takes on Dusty Springfield's "The Look Of Love," originally written for the 1967 Bond spoof Casino Royale, and closes the record with the Mozart-inflected, fugue-like "Consummation." This edition is gold-foil numbered and housed in a deluxe sleeve with linen laminate finish, plus gold hype sticker. Recommended)TRACKLISTING AND EXTRA INFORMATIONSide One1.
