Thompson & Morgan Summer Savory Herb Seeds - Green - 1 Seed Packet (400 Seeds)

Enjoy a burst of aromatic peppery tang in your cooking as the Thompson and Morgan Summer Savoury Herb Seeds bring a gentle, mild flavour to soups and seafood dishes while also serving as a handy alternative to sage or thyme. With slender bronze-green leaves and delicate lilac flowers, this hardy herb fits beautifully into any garden and is easy to grow from seed, reaching up to 45cm in height and 30cm in spread. Perfect for both culinary and medicinal uses, you'll love how it can soothe bee stings, reduce fevers and even help repel black flies when planted alongside broad beans. Each packet contains 400 seeds, offering plenty for your herb garden and ensuring you can enjoy harvests throughout the summer. Sow Summer Savoury seeds from late winter to spring at 18-20°C (65-68F), in a good quality seed compost, at a depth of 1.5mm. Place in a propagator or seal the seed tray inside a polythene bag until after germination, which usually takes 14-21 days. Keep the compost damp but not wet. When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant them into 7.5cm pots and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When alyssum plants are well grown, and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over seven to ten days. Transplant outdoors in full sun on any well-drained soil at a distance of 38cm apart. Grown next to broad beans, it is reputed to help repel black fly. Gather Summer Savoury when harvesting your broad beans and cook them together - it does wonders for the flavour. The secret is to have your Summer Savoury 15cm tall by early May to plant out amongst your beans! A light harvest of Summer Savoury can be made after about six weeks. Pick the leaves as and when required. For drying, Summer Savoury is best harvested in August. Product Specifications: Position in: full sun. Height: Up to 45cm. Spread: Up to 30cm. Images shown are for guidance only of the expected results from plants upon maturity. Different growing conditions might vary the results. An image may be included to illustrate the supply, but it can vary with seasonal changes (e.g., deciduous plants lose leaves in colder months).
